Uncolored copperplate engraving depicting a naval battle between the French and British. British vessels are identified by their flags: British naval jacks, and the St. George's cross. A title printed in the top margin has been cut away. A descriptive caption is printed on the lower margin: "The Great Sea Fight off Belle Isle on the 20th Nov. 1759 in which the French Fleet under the Command of Marshal Conflans was Defeated by the British Fleet commanded by the Honble. Sir Edward, afterwards Rt. Hble. Lord Hawke."
