Side view of a cutter yacht owned by Commodore J.C. Stevens of the New York Yacht Club. The Maria was built around the same year the NYYC was founded. It is said that she once logged 17 nautical miles per hour in smooth waters, and was beaten in a race only once by the Sweedish schooner Coquette.

This print is plate 7 from Fores's Marine Sketches.
