CC-T-0032.T.jpg

A trimmed broadside commemorating the reception of Mary II, Princess of Orange and Queen of Great Britain, in Margate on February 22, 1689. A large crowd accompanies the Queen, who is in the center, and she is welcomed by kneeling and bowing members of the Parliament. The house structure on the left is an inn, and in front, is the Royal carriage. In the background, various ships and Royal barges fire salutes. At the top of the image, the Queen's coat of arms is carried by allegorical figures; they are flanked by ribbons with the print's title in Dutch and English. Now missing, the text under the image would have been a description of the event and an explanation of the numbers in the image in three columns in Dutch, French, and English.
