AF-WF-0816.T.jpg

Hand-colored lithograph depicting a whaleboat (at right) and a whaleship (at left). The whaleship is simultaneously engaged in boiling down blubber, as evinced from the large clouds of smoke emerging from on deck, and in cutting-in to a whale. A strip of whaleskin with blubber is being peeled from a mostly-submerged body by means of hooks and ropes attached to the rigging. With another whaleboat pursing a whale in the right-hand background, and mountains in the distance. Ship flies an American flag. Title and maker names in bottom margin.
