AF-DX-2179.T.jpg

Monochrome etching depiciting a garden with two children and a playful dog. The older child looks to the right at something out of the frame and has his or her left arm around the younger child, who is smiling fondly at the dog jumping up with its tail wagging. Both children have short curls and wear simple dresses; the younger child also wears long bloomers. These dresses were standard garb for both girls and boys until boys were four or five years old. In the background is a fountain, with a long obelisk atop a stone, with the spouts of two stone whales framing the obelisk producing the water for the bowl of the fountain, below. The fountain is reminiscent of a funerary monument in shape. Flowers with a spike inflorescence bloom on right and tulips on left. Under the image is the uncapitalized text, "aimons nous toujours."
