Hand-colored vue d'optique print depicting the harbor in Boston, Massachusetts. When viewed through a device, the image had the illusion of depth. Perspective prints were popular in the early eighteenth century. Two ships are at anchor and British soldiers and men work to unload merchandise on the shore from the ship at the left. It is an idealized view depicting Boston as a typical European city. The text at the bottom is in German and French.
