Halftone taken from an engraving produced with mezzotint and some burin work by William Burgis.The first lighthouse in the United States, inaugurated on 14 September 1716 but destroyed during the War of Independence, on Little Brewster Island at the entrance to Boston Harbour. A jaunty vessel is depicted in the foreground with the characteristics of a British revenue cutter.

Title inscription: "To the Merchants of Boston this View of the LIGHTHOUSE// is most humbly presented By their Humble Serv't. W'm Burgis". Inscription on lower right: "W. Burgis del. & fecit".
