Woodcut ship portrait of the "New Netherland", from an article about the history of New York in the November 1891 issue of The Cosmopolitan Magazine. Shows the ship, which is three-masted, in three-quarter view, with the stern towards the viewer. She flies a flag with three horizontal stripes and a line of symbols on the middle stripe, perhaps intended to be the Amsterdam flag. With a shore and a small boat in the background, and the title printed in the lower margin.
