Colored aquatint of the London Engineer, a packet boat that began her service in 1818 carrying passengers between Margate and London. A 70-horse power paddle steamer built by Daniel Brent of Rotherhithe, the ship was built of wood with engines fitted by Maudslay, Sons and Field, at Lambeth.

Below title is the caption: "No. 44 of R. Ackermann's Repository of Arts & c. Pubd. Augt. 1.1819". Ackermann's Repository of Arts was an illustrated, British periodical published from 1809-1829 by Rudolph Ackermann. The formal title of the publication was "Repository of Arts, Literature, Commerce, Manufactures, Fashions, and Politics".
