CC-P-0168.T.jpg

Photograph of a print showing the steam ship "Great Liverpool" travelling up a high wave in a strong gale. All but two of her sails are down; the lines of her rigging are blown into great arcs, showing the strength of the wind. Title, description, and publication information about the image appear on the lower margin of the print; due to the edge blur peculiar to early photographic lenses, the lower lines thereof are illegible. A date has been pencilled in on the print: "[October 1838]"
