A colored lithograph of the sloop of war, the 'Cgynet,' being tossed in rough waves in a storm. According to the descriptive text underneath the image, in 1815, the sloop encountered a storm 48 hours off the coast of Abbs Head, Scotland. Everything was swept off the deck, but the entire crew was unharmed. They managed to board a lifeboat and were eventually carried near land. The scene depicts the sloop with three broken masts and the only the bowsprit and hull left largely intact. A red-colored British flag flies on what is left of the foremast. The crewmen line up against the side of the deck near the stern. The outline of a ship is visible in the far left background standing by to offer assistance.
