Colored engraving depicting whaling ships in Brassa Sound, Shetland. In the background is a landmass with a castle up upon a rocky promontory. Two of the ships are labeled "1" and "2", respectively. Another ship flies a flag with the Union Jack in the canton. Atop the image is printed, "Engraved according to Act of Parliament for the Magazine of Magazines." Below the image are printed the artist's name and the following text: "The BRITISH deep water Herring FISHERY, off BRASSA in SHETLAND. Taken at Sea July 14th 1750." On the right of this text is printed:
"1. The Pelham Buss.
2. The Carteret Buss."
