Engraving depicting a boat with a single upright mast at one end, and a long spar under the sail running above the vessel and forming a sort of cabin, with men aboard, by a rocky cliff. In the lower margin is printed, "Dessin̩ d'apr̬s Nature et Grav̩ par Baugean." (Drawn from life and engraved by Baugean). Below this is printed the title, which translates to "Maltese speronara at anchor". A speronara is a small Mediterranean vessel named for the distinctive spurs on the bows of the vessel.
