A sepia-toned, photo-processed reproduction of a painting of the USS 'New Ironsides.' She navigates forward so that she is seen from the front and port-broadside. Two men row in a small boat in the left foreground and sailing vessel is on the left side of the print. The 'New Ironsides' served in the American Civil War blockading Confederate ports. She was effective the blockading efforts due to her ability to fire her guns in rotation, bombarding a steady stream of fire on enemy fortifications.
