Colored aquatint depicts a whale destroying a whaleboat while the crewmen swim away from the wreckage and call for help. There are two intact whaleboats and the main whaling vessel in the middle ground.
This print was made after Jean-Fran̤ois Garneray's 1836 painting and engraved by Sigismond Himely.
