Engraving depicting a piece of carved amethyst. The carving shows a family of chimeras, with human upper bodies and sea serpent's tails for legs. There is a male figure, a female figure, and three small ones, as well as a dolphin in the background. The stle of carving, as well as the hairstyles, is Greco-Roman. Below the depiction of the carving is a caption, "Inscalptum Amethysto Ex Museum Mediceo" (Carved in amethyst, from the Medici Museum), and in the top right corner is a plate number, "XXXXVI". In the lower margin are the artist attributions.
