CC-R-0161.T.jpg

A colored lithograph of the RYS schooner 'Wyvern' with a broken mizzen mast due to violent gales during the Prince Albert Cup of 1848. The race was lead by the yachts 'Wyvern,' 'Enchantress,' also struggling against stormy weather in the background of the print, and the 'Brilliant.' The print is colored so that the light blue sky peeks through a small opening in the otherwise ominous and grey clouds. With difficulty, the 'Wyvern' reached safety in Portsmouth Harbor.
