A view of the Royal Naval Hospital, Greenwich, viewed from across the southern bank of the Thames. Ships and rowing boats navigate in the river in the foreground. The halls of the hospital that flank the central courtyard recede in the distance to a single vanishing point on the horizon line. When the hospital closed in the late 19th century, the vacated buildings became the home of the National Maritime Museum.
