Inspired by the English missionary ship, 'John Williams,' that was built by money collected from the children of England, the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions made an appeal to the Sunday school children of America to buy some two hundred thousand ten-cent shares. This campaign made it possible to build the first 'Morning Star' that travelled to the Marquesas and worked among the islands. This particular certificate is issued to George T. Weston, who contributed twenty-five cents.
