Etching depicting the action at the Battle of Navarino on 20 October 1827, which was a decisive naval engagement of the War of Greek Independence against Turkey. Although aided by the Egyptians, the Turkish fleet was not match for Britain, France, and Russia, who intervened to aid the Greeks. Named vessels in the foreground and middle ground are labeled directly below the image. The title, production information, a dedication to William Henry Duke of Clarence, a lengthy description of the battle, and lists of the French, British, and Russian vessels involved are all printed in the lower margin.
