CC-P-0233B.T.jpg

Photograph taken from a wooden dock, looking out at two whaleships. At right, a vessel visible in three-fourths bow view, her bow pointing left; three sets of empty davits for hanging whaleboats are visible on her side. There would have been only two sets on the opposite side, in order to leave room for the cutting-in. At left, a whaleboat on the water, and another whaleshop partially visible, her details rendered blurry by the optical distortion characteristic of early photographic lenses.
