The print is made up of two images. At the top is a ship portrait of an English first rate ship of war shown with its rigging at anchor in calm seas. The ship has three masts and its sails furled. British flags fly at the tops of each mast, stern, and bowspirit. Below is frame that encloses broadside views of different types of ships (a ketch, a schooner, and a sloop) and a section of an English first rate ship of war. The drawing of the section of the ship of war stops at the deck.

At the top, fragments of printed text indicate that the paper was trimmed.
