Uncolored engraving depicting a naval battle between two men of war, that at left flying the British naval jack, and that at right flying what appears to be the Amsterdam flag; the space between the ships is masked in clouds of cannon smoke; the Dutch ship is tilting heavily and may be sinking. The sails of both vessels are studded with holes from cannonballs. In the lower margin is printed, "An Engagement between an English and a Dutch Man of War. London, Publish'd 24 Feb. 1782, by R. Sayer & J. Bennet, 53 Fleet Street."
