AF-DX-1725.T.jpg

Monochrome title page from a book (duodecimo) with elaborate decorations. Text reads, "ABRAH. GOLNITZL. Dantisc ULYSSES Belgico-Gallicus, fidus tibi dux et Achates, per Belgium Hispan. regnum Galliae, ducat. Sabavdiae Turinum usq., Pedemonti metropolin." Below this is an image of a small fire, and then the following text, "Cum Privilegio" and the artist attribution, then "LUGDUNI BATAV. Ex officina Elzeviriana. M D XXXI." The decorations feature, at left of the title, Hermes with his winged helmet and caduceus, and at right, a traveler in a wide-brimmed hat and with a staff, wearing typical Dutch clothing for the period. Above is an elaborate coat of arms, featuring two dolphins.
